In 1751, Emperor Qianlong visited China's West Lake and sampled Long Jing Green Tea from 18 ancient trees. Declaring it the pinnacle of refinement, he declared the tea imperial-grade. The trees he favored were set aside exclusively for the court, and their leaves were harvested with extraordinary care to preserve their delicate flavor.

Today, our Imperial Long Jing Green Tea comes from the direct descendants of those same trees, grown in the same mineral-rich soil. The leaves are still picked by hand with meticulous attention — never torn or crushed — resulting in a tea of rare smoothness and depth. Only a fraction of West Lake's total Lung Ching output is produced yearly, making this tea one of the most sought-after green teas in the world.
